MLK HS, NYC -- The Crossbearers, still with a win-less record could have honestly believed this was the game to break their streak. QIK has struggled to close games all season and in the last two, they lost games they controlled through the 3rd qtr. When only 5 QIK players suited out, CRB had to have liked their odds.

INSIDE THE STATS QIK (F) Alex Stewart's 16 pts marks a season high. (G) Ren Hsieh's 18 pts marks the 3rd time in 4 gms he's reached the 15-pt mark.
CRB (F) James Li's team-high 13 pts marks the 3rd straight game he has reached double digits in scoring.
It was, however, perhaps their best five. Four established veterans with high basketball IQs, including their leading scorer, (G) Ren Hsieh, a former Defensive MVP, (F) Alex Stewart and their most athletically gifted player, (C) Ezra Hoover. But, it was (F) Shaun Young, who has quietly had perhaps his best season, and (G) Wilson Lew that got it going first, making early 3FGs and giving QIK an early lead.
Unfortunately, for the Crossbearers, they had little answer in the 1st half as their offense looked stagnant and QIK's zone effectively covered the paint for perhaps the first time this season. CRB (F) James Li led the way with 13 pts but shot a rough 6-16 (.375) from the field. CRB found themselves with a 33-19 deficit going into the 2nd half and very little momentum. It was arguably their worst effort so far this season.
That would change in the 2nd half as CRB put on a press and turned up their defensive effort. They held QIK to just 9 pts in the 3rd qtr but managed only 9 pts on their side of the scoreboard. Their deficit would be the same entering the 4th qtr.
In the 4th, the Crossbearers made another push but as time wound down, the Quicks put the ball in the hands of Hsieh to do what he does best late in games, get to the line. And, that he did, converting 8-8 along with one last 3FG to seal the deal. Late 3FGs from (F) Mike Chan and (G) Dave Zheng proved too little too late as CRB fell to 0-4 adding more questions to answer than before. -- Jeff Van Ghandi
