NYF (F) Young Yu goes postal in the final minute, stealing a QIK (G) Jason Chin pass and taking it the distance.
Butter still got it, Fury out-gun Quicks
MLK HS, NYC -- The Fury are starting to make a habit of making games interesting, even when they seem to have the conclusion well in hand. It makes for great television but it's a tough way to way to win basketball games. For 2 qtrs, the Quicks and Fury traded shots, neither taking control of the game. Each team displayed considerable depth and balanced scoring as they finished with 10 combined players scoring in double digit points, an FBNYC first.
By the 3rd quarter, the Fury took the upper hand as their offense picked up. If it wasn't (F) Rich Chang attacking the QIK frontcourt. (more...)
"Nas" dominated in the scoring column while taking only 12 FG attempts. That's efficiency. He led all shooters with 4 3FGs, that's range, also led his team in assists. That would be team work. 3 steals, that's defense. Did we miss anything?
Hard to know what to expect from the rookie center, that is unless you've seen him play before. He's gonna be turning heads all season... in that you better turn your head around before you end up on the bad end of the highlight reel.
Runner-Up: Jason Chin (NYF) 19 pts, 6 asts, 2 stls
The Sam Lo Award for Hustlers
Rondeep Dutta (SWA) 18 pts, 8 rebs
Dutta proves as he usually does you can get on the scoreboard in a big way without dominating the ball. Just out-work everyone else to get it.
SLA (G) Drew Chen finds teammate (F) Joe Kim for a key FG giving his team back the lead late in the 4th quarter.
Slayers survive in another classic finale
MLK HS, NYC -- Fury vs. Slayers is becoming one of FBNYC's all-time greatest rivalries. Go back to Initial D vs. RTS or further down the line to Maximum Output vs. All Stars; this rivalry is at least on par with those days of combative yore. No question, this was a grudge match.
With (F) Joe Kim, 2K9 SPR MVP, leaving NYF this off-season to join the Slayers and (F) Young Yu, once the face of the SLA franchise (when it was HOP) now joining the ranks of the Fury, there were points to be made. That NYF was fine without Kim and that Yu has enough in the tank for a run to the Chip(more...)
