hey i've just noticed that for int and recr division, there are no refs for regular games. so it's strictly streetball, call your own fouls, no free throws, etc? just feel that there might be some contraversies throughout the tournament

I've been hearing different things and my captain seems to be unsure of the answer. For the playoffs are teams going to be seeded 1-8, or is it still by conference? Also, is only the championship a 3 game series? Please enlighten us on the matter. Thank you.

FBNYC 3-on-3 League
FBNYC, 7.2.08
Hey FBNYCers,
Try this on for size... taking a cue from ZogSports, we're considering a 3-on-3 half court league. We all love the AsianHoops.com annual Summer 3-on-3, so why not run a league. Everybody gets burn, everybody gets touches and its easier to get 4-5 friends to commit than 10. I copied that almost verbatim from the ZogSports.com website.
So here's how it would work...
Every team will get (8) game days. On each game day, teams will play (3) games against the same opponent with 2:00 minute breaks in between. Each game will last 15:00 minutes and be officiated by an official referee. That's 24 total games!!! Every individual win/loss will be tallied in the league standings. Only the top 8 teams in the league will make the playoffs.
Entry fees for each team will be determined upon the number of teams that participate but it will be no more than $400.00 for a maximum of 5 players. We are considering three different leagues for varying skill levels and with various features:
MEN'S OPEN DIVISION
Most competitive division. Open to any skill level, each team is allowed (1) non-Asian player. Features:
- All games will be officially scored and refereed. Stats and standings will be posted to the website.
- Trophies for 1st and 2nd pl. and t-shirts for Champions.
- $500.00 GRAND PRIZE and free entry to next season (only with same roster).
MEN'S REC. DIVISION
For recreation league players looking to get a good run. All players in this league must be at least 1/4 Asian descent.
- All games will be officially scored and refereed. Stats and standings will be posted to the website.
- Trophies for 1st and 2nd pl. Champions receive t-shirts and free entry to next season (only with same roster).
COED DIVISION
This division is strictly for fun. (1) female player must be on the court at all times. This league is open to everyone.
- All games will be officially scored and refereed. Stats and standings will be posted to the website.
- Trophies for 1st and 2nd pl. Champions receive t-shirts and free entry to next season (only with same roster).
BASIC RULES - These basic guidelines would apply to all leagues. - 3-on-3, substitutions can be made any deadball. - Each game lasts 15:00 minutes with stop clock in the final 2:00 minutes. - 24-sec. shot-clock by scorekeepers count --keeper will announce 5-secs left. - FGs are worth 2 pts, 3FGs are 3, FTs are 1, just like in full-court. - 2 FTs will be awarded for shooting fouls, 3 for 3FGs, 2 FTs bonus after 5 team fouls. - Ball changes possession after each basket and has to be "checked." - All changes in possession have to be taken behind the 3-pt line.
All games would be played Wednesday nights from 7-10pm at MLK High School (65th Street & Amsterdam Ave.) unless otherwise notified. If this is something you're interested in, please contact Ren Hsieh (ren@fastbreaknyc.com) or post a comment below.

We're all so glad you have time in your life to defecate such gems for us. THANK you. THANK you. We would not be complete without you. Happy 4th of July.

This league could start as early as July 9th if there's enough teams and more could get tacked on as we go. If there's enough interest to wait until July 16th, we could do that.
