Project by Projects 10th Annual Tasting BenefitFBNYC, 9.16.08

FB Nation,

I'd like to invite you all to Plate By Plate: Project by Project's 2008 Tasting Benefit on Fri., Oct. 3rd at Skylight (275 Hudson Street, NYC).
This video from last year's benefit should give you an idea. If you dig food like I do, don't miss it. I'll be in the VIP! -- Ren, Commish

Each year, this event showcases New York City's premier restaurants and is attended by over 750 food and wine loving guests who look forward to sampling what the city's best has to offer. The organization and benefits from the previous years have been featured on Bravo TV's hit reality show, Top Chef, and MTV-K, as well as some of New York's best culinary publications. Visit this link or email William Wang for more info.

Project by Project is proud to be partnering with the Voice Your Vote NY campaign - a collaborative effort to empower voters in the Asian Pacific American (APA) community of New York. Voice Your Vote NY is a partnership consisting of APIAVote, YKASEC - Empowering the Korean American Community, Chhaya CDC, Organization of Chinese Americans - NY (OCA-NY) and Project by Project. All proceeds from the Plate by Plate Annual Tasting Benefit will go directly to support the Voice Your Vote NY campaign, a nonpartisan campaign to empower APA voters.

FBNYC 3-on-3 LeagueFBNYC, 7.2.08
Hey FBNYCers,

Try this on for size... taking a cue from ZogSports, we're considering a 3-on-3 half court league. We all love the AsianHoops.com annual Summer 3-on-3, so why not run a league. Everybody gets burn, everybody gets touches and its easier to get 4-5 friends to commit than 10. I copied that almost verbatim from the ZogSports.com website.

So here's how it would work...
Every team will get (8) game days. On each game day, teams will play (3) games against the same opponent with 2:00 minute breaks in between. Each game will last 15:00 minutes and be officiated by an official referee. That's 24 total games!!! Every individual win/loss will be tallied in the league standings. Only the top 8 teams in the league will make the playoffs.

Entry fees for each team will be determined upon the number of teams that participate but it will be no more than $400.00 for a maximum of 5 players.  We are considering three different leagues for varying skill levels and with various features:

MEN'S OPEN DIVISION

Most competitive division. Open to any skill level, each team is allowed (1) non-Asian player. Features:

- All games will be officially scored and refereed. Stats and standings will be posted to the website.

- Trophies for 1st and 2nd pl.  and t-shirts for Champions.

- $500.00 GRAND PRIZE and free entry to next season (only with same roster).
MEN'S REC. DIVISION

For recreation league players looking to get a good run. All players in this league must be at least 1/4 Asian descent.

- All games will be officially scored and refereed. Stats and standings will be posted to the website.

- Trophies for 1st and 2nd pl. Champions receive t-shirts and free entry to next season (only with same roster).

COED DIVISION

This division is strictly for fun. (1) female player must be on the court at all times. This league is open to everyone.

- All games will be officially scored and refereed. Stats and standings will be posted to the website.

- Trophies for 1st and 2nd pl. Champions receive t-shirts and free entry to next season (only with same roster).

BASIC RULES - These basic guidelines would apply to all leagues.

- 3-on-3, substitutions can be made any deadball.
- Each game lasts 15:00 minutes with stop clock in the final 2:00 minutes.
- 24-sec. shot-clock by scorekeepers count --keeper will announce 5-secs left.
- FGs are worth 2 pts, 3FGs are 3, FTs are 1, just like in full-court.

- 2 FTs will be awarded for shooting fouls, 3 for 3FGs, 2 FTs bonus after 5 team fouls.
- Ball changes possession after each basket and has to be "checked."
- All changes in possession have to be taken behind the 3-pt line.
All games would be played Wednesday nights from 7-10pm at MLK High School (65th Street & Amsterdam Ave.) unless otherwise notified. If this is something you're interested in, please contact Ren Hsieh (ren@fastbreaknyc.com) or post a comment below.

2K8 SPR End-of-Season AwardsFBNYC, 4.24.08

Tony takes 2nd MVP in four seasons
The Difference sprang the Fury into contention in another career season

Another season and another set of career-highs (19.0 ppg, .569 FG%, .849 FT%) for FBK's difference-maker (F) Tony Hu. Hu's 19.0 ppg was topped only by BTR (F) Christian Stevens and his 9.5 rpg once again put him in the league's Top 10. Both stats were integral to the league's best regular season record (6-2, tied with DLE) and highest scoring offense (65.0 ppg). --

FBNYC News: Former MVP Marshall Cho on ESPNFBNYC, 4.23.08
FBNYC News: Marshall "Moz" Cho featured in ESPN Page 2

Due to the unexpected bye week there's been little to post on the site but from time to time we get to hear from former "A" league MVP Marshall Cho all the way from Mozambique, Africa where he does outreach work for Hoops 4 Hope, a global not-for-profit organization that aids youth development throughout southern Africa by providing more than 10,000 school-age children with their Basketball/Life Skills program. Click the link for more info.

Anytime we hear from Marshall, it's usually a pen-worthy occasion and this time is no different. The original face and logo of FBNYC is spotlighted in a Kevin Carroll story on ESPN Page 2. Click here to check it out. -- FBNYC
