The Spot Dessert Bar Game of the Week

AOD (G) Jon Scheiman looks to get out of the ASN double team headed up by standout Ninjas (F) Brian Villy Womack.
AOD can't keep up with run & gun Ninjas
by "Scoop" Jack Sun

M
LK HS, NYC -- Allow me to qualify that lead, ASN sure did gun but (G) Tyquawn Goode and (F) Brian Villy Womack, with a game-high 14 pts, did most of the running.

This was to be AOD (G) Jon Scheiman's last game before his workout with the (IBA) Israeli Basketball Association, in which he would have to miss at least 2 weeks. AOD captain (C) Len Kamdang certainly hoped it would be a big one, especially AOD leading scorer with (G) Usama Nausrudeen (26 ppg) out of the line-up.

2K10 SUM Weekly Awards (Week 4)FBNYC, 7.21.10
N. Harrington (MON)
G | 6-8 | 225 lbs
Week 4 Stats
PPG: 29.0
RPG: 14.0
APG: 5.0

Harrington was dominant from one end of the court to the other. Scoring pretty much at will, the 6-8 center is athletic, tenacious and can finish. Oh and he can shoot, too. What more can you ask for from a bonafide pro?

Runner-Up: Jin Hong (DBC) 19 pts, 8 rebs, 4 stls
Nacho Martin (NYF)
C | 6-9 | 240 lbs
Week 4 Stats
PPG: 19.0
RPG: 16.0
SPG: 2.0

Martin was a force against AOD. After struggling at first against big AOD (C) Josh Ellison, Martin was able to turn it on in the second half and dominate. The Spanish pro delivered with a striking efficiency, helping lift the Fury to their 3rd straight W.

Runner-Up: Nic Echevestre (NYF) 18 pts, 6 rebs
The Sam Lo Award for Hustlers

Jin Hong (DBC) 8 rebs, 4 stls, 2 blks

DBC really needs Hong to step it up to get to MSG, and this week Hong answered the call. His ferocious play helped bring DBC their first victory.

Runner-Up: George Chan (MNK) 11 rebs, 1 ast
Defensive Player of the Week

B. Picone (DBC) 13 rebs, 5 blks

For the second week in a row, the reigning Defensive MVP shut down the opposing paint and made it near impossible for ASN's bigs to work.

Runner-Up: Brian Womack (ASN) 9 rebs, 4 stls
The High-5 Club

Rich Baptiste (MON) 13-9-3-2-3
Nacho Martin (NYF) 19-16-1-2-1
Jin Hong (DBC) 19-8-1-4-2
Danny Manning (ASN) 3-2-1-3-1

Discorama Rookie of the Week

Jin Hong (DBC) 8 rebs, 4 stls, 2 blks

Bouncing back from a sub-par outing vs. MON, Hong's new-found tenacity was just what DBC needed to pull this one out.

Runner-Up: Nacho Martin (NYF) 19 pts, 16 rebs
The "John Starks" Award

Ty Goode (ASN) | 1-13 FGs (.077)

Goode didn't look rusty but it had to be something. The moves were there, the timing but not the finish, and eventually, it got pretty ugly.

Dishonorable Mention: Joe Vine (MNK) 2-12 FGs
The "Chris Dudley" Award

Danny Manning (ASN) | 1-4 (.250)

Not much to choose from since it's the BLUE league, but going 1-4 isn't pretty. It's called the charity stripe for a reason.

Dishonorable Mention: Jin Hong (DBC) 1-3 FTs

FBNYC Game of the Week

DBC (F) Jin Hong elevates to block ASN (G) Wilson Lew's transition layup. Hong's defense was a major force in the win vs. ASN.
Hong bounces back, Conns get 1st win

MLK HS, NYC -- Entering the season, 6-7 DBC (F) Jin Hong (College of St. Rose) was one of the most anticipated new additions to the league but after an inauspicious start in a loss to the MonStars, the league was left wanting. With Hong looking perhaps intimidated, facing German pro 6-8 (C) Nick Harrington, he was tentative and turnover prone.

Don't say the kid doesn't bounce back. In a much needed win against a very solid Asphalt Ninjas team led by captain (G) Wilson Lew, Hong played full tilt and let the chips fall where they may. He was aggressive on both ends of the court and his team followed suit.
