Summer 2014 Premier Division Power Rankings - Week 8
Rank Team Record
Team Notes
1. (=)

MBX

(5-1)

MBX has come a long way this season. Rookie (F) Isaiah Reed has given them even more athleticism and interior scoring. And more importantly, (G) Mike Bratton has emerged as a needed 3rd scorer, maybe the no. 1 option.
2. (+5)

AXA

(4-2)

In perhaps the most surprising turnaround this season, AXA will get a chance to play MBX for the 1 seed. (G) Sam Deadwyler & (F) Stedford McCloud have been a potent 1-2 punch, but (G) Leonard Lans makes them a contender.
3. (+1)

SEA

(4-2)

Somehow SEA has found a way to sneak into the top tier. If AXA loses vs MBX, the Seamen will be locked in at the 2nd seed. SEA has done a great job of spreading the ball around this season. You never who is gonna hit you.
4. (-2)

BBR

(3-3)

Without (F) Will Johnson in the line-up, Reasons is a different team. Luckily, Johnson is eligible for the playoffs regardless. The question is whether or not a loss tonight will knock them out. There is a slim chance it could.
5. (=)

FBN

(3-3)

If the defending champs win, they're still not guaranteed a post season spot. If they don't win, this will be one very disappointing season. Their opponent tonight, REN, is in the same boat. The playoffs begin now.
6. (-3)

GOA

(3-3)

An unexpected loss to the Renegades puts their playoff hopes in question. Basically, five teams currently have the same record, and they're all vying for 3 remaining playoff spots. Herders will have to win, and hope for the best.
7. (+1)

MON

(3-3)

The Monstars are looking better every game as they continue to learn how to take advantage of their huge front-line. They have great size, and depth at the position. This team is playoff ready. Now, they have to win for a chance.
8. (+1)

REN

(3-3)

This is a savvy veteran team that is finally tuned in. The playoffs start now. If they win, they have a shot of getting in. But, only if they win. (F) Eli St. Hilare has had his best season yet, be a shame to let it go to waste.
9. (-2)

TOP

(3-4)

They needed a W last week to keep their playoff hopes alive. It was a tough finish with all their bigs returning to school before the season ended. With no (G) Max Masucci in the line-up, it was too big a mountain to climb.
10. (=)

FAS

(0-7)

The Agents finished without a win, but give credit where it's due, they didn't quit. Even down 40-3 in their final game, they finished it out strong. It was perhaps their best three quarters of play all season.
Observations... "Big Breakfast" is on the come-up... two players from the same team are the league's top two scorers... 57 points combined... Sam Deawyler is on pace to average 6.5 steals per game this season... an FBNYC all-time record... Askia Davis' 5 blocks per game... also a record...

Typically known as more of a defensive stopper, Uter got his offense going in a much-needed W over GOA this week. Uter's efforts keep REN's playoff hopes alive another week.

R-Up: Mike Bratton (MBX) 29 pts, 6 3FGs, 2 reb
The Sam Lo Award for Hustlers

L. Lans (AXA) 21 pts, 12 reb, 8 ast

With captain (G) Jon Yevin out, AXA needed a guard to come and fill in. Lans will do just fine. He can do it all, and he's got some bounce.

R-Up: Pierre Carras (MON) 16 pts, 11 reb, 1 stl
Wat Misaka Defensive Player of the Week

Jas. Crowell (MBX) 8 reb, 4 stl, 2 blk

Crowell hasn't been scoring as much in the past few games, but he is always a menace on defense. He has never missed an All-Def team.

Runner-Up: Seamus McKiernan (GOA) 14 reb, 4 blk
The High-5 Club

Jason Crowell (MBX) 7-8-6-4-2

Spot Dessert Bar™ Rookie of the Week

S. McCloud (AXA) 22pts, 9reb, 10ast

The AXA big man was 1 reb shy of a triple-double. The disclaimer is that it came against FAS, but this should be indicative of a season's dominance.

R-Up: Seamus McKiernan (GOA) 35 pts, 14 reb

The "John Starks" Award

Yves Joseph (FAS) | 4-17 FGs (.235)

The Agents fell so far behind early in this one, you can't fault Joseph too much for getting up some shots. The big man still led his team in rebs.

Dishonorable Mention: Nick Cafiero (MON) 1-11 FGs
The "Chris Dudley" Award

C. Lemoine (MON) | 1-5 FTs (.200)

As always, teams with Lemoine on the roster will take the missed FTs as long as he dominates the paint, and they get the win.

Dishonorable Mention: Ian Yu (REN) 0-4 FTs

Hulse and teammate (G) Garrett James have put up big offensive numbers all season, but not W's. In Week 7, Hulse finally led his team to a big win over previously undefeated MBX.

R-Up: Zack Simmons (BBR) 37 pts, 7 reb, 2 ast
The Sam Lo Award for Hustlers

B. Perkins (TOP) 20 pts, 10 reb, 4 stl

TOP needed big effort from all their players with only 5 in Week 7. They got a huge one from Perkins who led the team in pts and still got 10 reb.

Runner-Up: Jon Yevin (AXA) 14 pts, 10 reb, 3 stl
Wat Misaka Defensive Player of the Week

Sam Deadwyler (AXA) 7 reb, 8 stl

Go ahead and give him the Def MVP award right now. Nobody changes the entire game with his defense better than Deadwyler. He's a problem.

Runner-Up: Bryant Picone (FAS)
The High-5 Club

Jason Crowell (MBX) 13-8-4-5-1
Eric Gerrard (MON) 10-8-4-1-1
Ren Hsieh (FBN) 4-2-6-2-1

Zack Simmons (BBR) 37-7-2-1-2

Spot Dessert Bar™ Rookie of the Week

Isaiah Reed (MBX) 21 pts, 14 reb

With teammate (F) Askia Davis out of the line-up, Reed held it down for MBX, even making some clutch 3FGs to push this game to double OT.

R-Up: Stedford McCloud (AXA) 20 pts, 7 reb, 3 ast
The "John Starks" Award

Dan Chung (TOP) | 5-18 FGs (.278)

Top Stars needed shots to go up and that's what they got. Chung has shot fairly well this season, but this wasn't one of those nights.

Dishonorable Mention: Rich Mullen (FAS) 5-18 FGs
The "Chris Dudley" Award

S. Deadwyler (AXA) | 3-9 FTs (.333)

As good as Deadwyler has been on defense all season, he's been nearly as bad shooting FTs. Luckily, it didn't hurt them in this game.

Dishonorable Mention: S. McCloud (AXA) 2-6 FTs
