FBNYC Game of the Week

HYP (F) George Chan goes up over the top in the 1st qtr, setting the tone early in their match-up with Audacity of Dope.
Dope big but Hypebeasts bigger

MLK HS, NYC -- Audacity of Dope has already established itself as one of the biggest teams in the league despite playing most of their games without their most skilled big, who's actually quite lithe, (F) Yoshi Kagitomi. For AOD to go 1-1 in the former Championship MVP's absence is no small feat but much of that was thanks to the addition of lightning quick (G) Nick Mui.

Enter the consensus no. 1 Hypebeasts. If AOD is big, the Hypebeasts are bigger now that they have former All-FBNYC (F) George Chan back on the roster. Not to mention, (C) Howie Chu, who until this game vs. AOD, had been quiet. Chu came out with a vengeance, getting it going early on (more...)

ANALYSIS: Audacity of Dope has been on a tear of late, coming off of solid wins over the NY Crossbearers and The Agents, the only team to beat HYP this season. AOD (G) Nick Mui has been an immediate success, making everyone around him better and both wins have come without (C) Yoshi Kagitomi in the line-up. The Hypebeasts survived last week vs. NYF, gutting out a win late as they did vs. QIK. If (C) George Chan has returned to the line-up for good, they could still be the team to beat.

X-FACTOR: Mui is at his best when he has a long-range complement, that being (G) Jason Chin, who is not so coincidentally Mui's teammate on their USAB tournament team. If Chin is on target, AOD is tough to stop. As much as he might not like to admit it, with (G) Sam Jenkins in the fold, reigning MVP (G) Ian Yu has become more a complementary player. But, if he can get it going, HYP is near unstoppable.

(G) Leon Chu

Both are solid with Chin getting the edge due to Chu's iffy hamstring. If healthy, Chu is a solid defender. Chin, the better shooter.

(G) Ian Yu

Mui is instantly the fastest man on the court and his impact has been just as quick. Yu has been quiet, they'll need him for this one.
(G) Andrew Hara

(G) Sam Jenkins

Hara is making the transition from point to wing, but he gives AOD another playmaker. Jenkins can score with the best of the them but shot selection has been questionable.
(F) Aaron Fisher

(F) George Chan

Fisher is coming on as one of league's best true PFs. Chan is already established as such but needs to get more touches.

(C) Howie Chu

This should be a good match-up. Neither has been particularly strong this season but both will always play a factor.

BENCH

AOD's bench carries solid role players that work for it. If Leon Chu is still hurt, HYP may start (F) Mamadou Hanne and put Ian Yu at point. Either way, it's still a deep bench.

2K10 SPR Weekly Player Awards (Week 4)FBNYC, 3.10.10
Nick Mui (AOD)
G | 5-11 | 175 lbs
Week 4 Stats
PPG: 25.0
APG: 2.0
SPG: 3.0

Nick "the Quick" they used to call him, that hasn't changed. What AOD has done is instantly switch their identity by adding the league's fastest player. But, it's not just speed, it's his fearless ability to finish in the paint. He did work vs. FAS.

Runner-Up: Nick Watson (FAS) 22 pts, 8 reb, 3 blk
Alex Cho (NYF)
G | 5-9 | 155 lbs
Week 4 Stats
PPG: 33.0
RPG: 3.0
APG: 1.0

The kid is on fire. In two wins before this game, Cho put up a league-high 19.5 ppg, but his career best 33 pts put him on yet another level, despite an L in the standings this week. We have never seen him play like this but we expect even more.

Runner-Up: Alex Stewart (QIK) 16 pts, 7 reb, 2 stl
The Sam Lo Award for Hustlers

Aaron Fisher (AOD) 12 rebs

Fisher has come on as a rebounder of late and his work around the paint is polished and effective. If only he could get a few more layups to fall.

Runner-Up: Bryant Picone (NYF) 10 rebs, 2 blks
Defensive Player of the Week

Alex Stewart (QIK) 7 rebs, 2 stl, 2 blk

Stewart was key to shutting down the paint in a much-improved QIK team defense. CRB was limited to just 8 pts in the paint.

Runner-Up: N. Watson (FAS) 8 rebs, 2 stls, 2 blks
The High-5 Club

Steven Chen (NYF) 1-3-5-2-1
James Li (CRB) 13-8-2-1-1
Alex Stewart (QIK) 16-7-2-2-2
Nick Watson (FAS) 22-8-3-2-3
Jon Yevin (FAS) 9-3-1-1-2

Discorama Rookie of the Week

N. Watson (FAS) 22 pts, 8 reb, 3 blk

Watson struggled with his shot for most of the game but came on in the 4th qtr to finish with 22 pts along with 2 stls and 3 blks.

Runner-Up: Sam Jenkins (HYP) 22 pts, 3 stls
The "John Starks" Award

J. Giacobbe (NYF) | 2-13 FGs (.154)

Oddly enough, Giaccobe made his first and last shots, missing 11 FGAs in-between, but his 3FG late in the 4th helped push his team into OT.

Dishonorable Mention: Sam Jenkins (HYP) 3-13 FGs

The "Chris Dudley" Award

NY Crossbea. (CRB) | 1-7 FTs (.143)

The Crossbearers made only 1 FT on just 7 attempts. But, even if they made them all, it might not have made a difference.

Dishonorable Mention: Ezra Hoover (QIK) 3-7 FTs
