2K9 FALL Weekly Player Awards (Week 7)FBNYC, 11.18.09
Ian Yu (HYP)
G | 5-10 | 155 lbs
Week 7 Stats
PPG: 17.5
RPG: 9.0
APG: 4.5

"C-Wonder" is the quite simply the fastest player on the court right now. He's two steps ahead of everyone else out there and he's carried his HYP team to a 5-1 record. He's even added a 3-ptr to the repertoire, there's just nothing he can't do.

Runner-Up: Andrew Hara (AOD) 12 pts, 8 reb, 8 ast
Rommel Dolar (NYF)
F | 5-10 | 150 lbs
Week 7 Stats
PPG: 20.0
RPG: 5.0
APG: 6.0

Much like Yu, Dolar was moving better than anyone else on the court in Wk 7. When the rookie guard is assertive, his speed and handle get him anywhere he wants on the court. That's exactly what he did in a big conference win vs. QIK.

RU: Derrick Tyson (SWA) 18 pts, 12 rebs, 3 blks
The Sam Lo Award for Hustlers

Rich Chang (NYF) 16 rebs, 1 stl

Against a team stacked with legit big men, Chang was bigger with a game high 16 rebs. No one in the game was even 7 rebs close to his mark.

Runner-Up: James Li (HYP) 8.5 rpg, 2 bpg
Defensive Player(s) of the Week

D. Tyson (SWA) 12 rebs, 3 stl, 3 blk

Tyson might be the best two-way big man in the league right now. Leading his SWA team in scoring and shutting down the paint for everyone else.

Runner-Up: James Li (HYP) 8.5 rpg, 1 spg, 2 bpg
The "High Five" Club

George Chan (HYP) 13-12-1-1-1
George Chan (HYP) 10-9-2-1-2
Daniel Kweon (NYF) 14-5-1-2-1
Rob Toste (FAS) 11-5-2-1-1
Derrick Tyson (SWA) 18-12-3-3-3

Discorama Rookie of the Week

D. Tyson (SWA) 18 pts, 12 reb, 3 blk

The Outstanding Rookie Award is no contest this season. Tyson has been that much better than everyone else. MVP isn't out of the question.

Runner-Up: Chris Moore (HYP) 14 pts, 6 reb, 2 ast
The "John Starks" Award

Mike Song (FAS) | 0-12 FGs (.000)

Well, it doesn't get any worse than this. So, Song has that going for him. This is the most FG attempts in FBNYC history without a make.

Dishonorable Mention: Min Park (AOD) 5-18 FGs

The "Chris Dudley" Award

A. Gillespie (SWA) | 1-4 FTs (.250)

Just about the only thing Gillespie is not doing right now is making FTs. The Swagganauts won so the rookie forward can't be too upset.

Dishonorable Mention: Dave Liu (SWA) 2-4 FTs

FBNYC Game of the Week

SLA (F) Joe Kim rises up from under the basket to find an open teammate. Kim topped 20 pts for the 4th time this season but his 8-23 FGs (.348) was a season-low.
Beasts overwhelm yet again short- handed Slayers

MLK HS, NYC -- SLA (F) Joe Kim has certainly shown on more than one occasion this season that he can carry his team but this is ridiculous. For the 2nd straight week, SLA has put all it's fortunes in the hands of arguably the league's front-runner for MVP and virtually him alone.

Arriving with only 5 players in Week 6, Kim was unable to lift SLA over a Swagganauts team that is improving every week and with only 5 again in Week 7, SLA's prospects for beating a red-hot HYP led my dark horse favorite for MVP (G) Ian Yu was slim to none. And, a 27-12 1st quarter lead from the Hypebeasts (more...)
Week 7 League Highs... Points: Joe Kim (SLA) 21, Ian Yu (HYP) 21, Rommel Dolar (NYF) 20... 3FGs: William Moy (HYP) 5, Chris Moore (FAS) 4... Rebounds: Rich Chang (NYF) 16, Jiang Yu (SLA) 14... 2K9 FALL Top 10 Plays of Week 6FBNYC, 11.13.09

Salvaged. The entire project nearly eschewed in light of Dwyane Wade's magnum opus of thundering funk. If that is art, we are no artists. If that's basketball, this is tiddley-winks. But, the Hypebeasts cometh. And, faith is restored. Top 10 or ode to C-Wonder? Depends who you ask. Four stars.

2K9 FALL Weekly Player Awards (Week 6)FBNYC, 11.12.09
Ian Yu (HYP)
G | 5-10 | 155 lbs
Week 6 Stats
PPG: 14.0
RPG: 6.0
APG: 5.5

In HYP's two Wk 6 wins, it was "C-Wonder" who put his stamp all over the court. Offense, defense, no one in the league is moving as fast and as fluidly in the open court as Yu right now. And, he's making his teammates better, too.

RU: Chris Moore (FAS) 12 pts, 10 rebs, GW FG
Amin Gillespie (SWA)
F | 6-3 | 225 lbs
Week 6 Stats
PPG: 14.0
RPG: 7.0
APG: 5.0

Gillespie has been the quieter part of SWA's impressive front court but his all-around game and hard-nosed defense were on full display in SWA's win over the Slayers. Gillespie kept his team ahead by scoring 6 of his 14 pts late in the 4th.

Runner-Up: Kirby Shaw (QIK) 23 pts, 4 rebs
The Sam Lo Award for Hustlers

Len Kamdang (AOD) 11 rebs, 3 stls

In his best career game, Kamdang was everywhere he needed to be and one of the few bright spots of AOD's last-second loss to FAS.

RU: Dooley Watts (FAS) 11 pts, 9 rebs, 1 blk
Defensive Player(s) of the Week

Hypebeasts .347 FGA%, 9.5 spg

HYP's trapping defense just looked intimidating. It's gonna take patient, physical guards to break that press. PTS off TOs is HYP's new motto.

Runner-Up: Derrick Tyson (SWA) 3 rebs, 6 stls
The "High Five" Club

Bryant Picone (NYF) 1-11-2-1-2
Shaun Young (QIK) 6-1-4-1-1

Discorama Rookie of the Week

Chris Moore (FAS) 12 pts, 10 rebs, 4 asts

RU: Kirby Shaw (QIK) 23 pts, 4 rebs, 2 asts
The "John Starks" Award

Jon Giacobbe (NYF) | 4-19 FGs (.211)

Just one game ago he set a season franchise-high with 24 pts. What a difference two weeks makes. He had good looks, they just didn't go in.

Dishonorable Mention: NYC Fury (NYF) 13-54 FGs

The "Chris Dudley" Award

Leon Chu (HYP) | 3-11 FTs (.273)

In two games, Chu is already starting to challenge SLA (C) Jiang Yu as the greatest "Dud" of all time. This is a guard we're talking about.

Dishonorable Mention: HYP (vs. QIK) 8-22 FTs
