(1) Fastbreak NYC vs. (2) Boomtown | Wednesday (11/12), 8:00pm @ MLK HS
NEW YORK CITY -- Team FBNYC will be vying for their 4th straight title in tonight's game at The King, a Premier Division first. But this will be their first attempt as the playoffs' top seed, perhaps unfamiliar territory. What will be very familiar is their opponent, Boomtown. This is their 6th match- up in 4 seasons, and every one of them has been a battle. FBN is 4-1 all-time including a win in the championship two seasons ago.
The Breakers haven't always been the most talented team in the league but every season they have added a key piece, and this season, they are perhaps the league's best talent. Boomtown could make the argument, however, that they have been the best "team" this fall. They haven't changed their roster since day one. This could be a test of chemistry over talent. But, FBN isn't exactly without chemistry. The same core group has been together for longer than Boomtown has been in the league. These games have never been easy. Every last one hard fought.
Boomtown has historically been a tough match-up for the Breakers. They have a powerful slasher in (F) Nate Jones and a big who stretches the floor in (F) Jake Moreno. Key parts, but their advantage has always been their energy and all-out hustle. FBN is an aging team that doesn't move quite as well--and can't sustain that kind of pace. They are long defensively, and they generally play smart, contained ball, but Boomtown's hustle always keeps them in the games. It wears teams out. They proved as much against BBR in the Semifinals.
The x-factor that FBN brings to the table this season is (F) Matija Petrovic, a 6-7 mobile big man that Boomtown can't really defend one-on-one. He did not play in their regular season match-up with BOO, which FBN won anyway. The presence of Petrovic will make it very difficult for Boomtown to focus their defense on FBN star (F) Youssef Hulse, something they've done well in the past. With this kind of balance, the Breakers certainly seem to be the favorites. Particularly with Hulse's penchant for monster efforts in title games. But Boomtown has never let that stop them before. They will try for a second time to beat FBN for a title. -- FBNYC
|(G) Ren Hsieh
||(G) Josh Puritz
||Hsieh and Puritz bring the same kind of thing, they set the offense, try to make a difference on D, and hit open shots. Both are shooting well this season.
|(G) Garrett James
||(G) Keith Markovich
||FBN hasn't called on James to score at a high rate this season, but he is still very capable. Markovich is BOO's 2nd leading scorer & their most prolific 3-pt shooter. Perhaps a bit streaky.
|(G) Will Haile
||(G) Jack Delighter
||Even match-ups? This is what we mean. Both players can lay claim to being the hardest working in Premier. Haile is the better scorer, but isn't young anymore. Delighter has boundless energy.
|(F) James Bartlett
||(F) Nate Jones
||Bartlett is one of Premier's best help defenders and he's FBN's most trusted player on the floor. Jones is a nearly unstoppable slasher, creating match-up problems with his size and strength.
|(F) Youssef Hulse
||(F) Jake Moreno
||Hulse is perhaps the league's toughest guard. A big (F) who can score from any spot, especially off the dribble. Moreno is crafty, rebounds well, and can get hot from 3. He'll spread the floor for BOO.
(G) Pat Armstrong
(F) Ezra Hoover
(F) Matija Petrovic
(G) Evan Silver
(C) Brett Heller
(C) Bryant Picone
|All of the FBN bench could be starters on anther team. Only Petrovic hasn't been here before. BOO gets an all-out hustle guy in Silver, and solid front-line. Picone is a top paint defender.

| UNDRCRWN™ PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Youssef Hulse (FBN) | 10th Season
|Pos: F, Ht: 6-3, Ht: 225 lbs
The defending champion Breakers tend to turn it on as the playoffs approach, and their best player, Hulse, is generally the same. He is now playing his best ball at the right time.
Runner-Up: Erik Gerrard (MON) 20 pts, 13 reb, 3 stl
|The Sam Lo Award for Hustlers
Askia Davis (MBX) 16 reb, 3 stl, 2 blk
MediaBrix may not make the playoffs this season, but it's not from a lack of effort from Davis. Another big stat line in their last game of the season.
Runner-Up: Will Haile (FBN) 14 reb, 3 stl, 2 blk
|Wat Misaka Defensive Player of the Week
Will Haile (FBN) 11rpg, 2spg, 3.6bpg
Even when Haile isn't scoring, he's an impact on the floor. As FBN's best defender, his regular presence here should be no surprise.
Runner-Up: Jin Hong (NYK) 6 reb, 1 stl, 5 blk)

Alex Marinescu (WSH) 18 pts, 7 reb
The Bullets finished their season with a blowout loss, but Marinescu gave it all he had in easily his best game of the season.
Runner-Up: John Bedford (BBR) 12 ppg, 7 rpg, 3 spg
|The "John Starks" Award
Myles Bane (WSH) | 1-13 FGs (.077)
Tough night for Bane against a very athletic MBX team. He seemed to second guess every shot, and never got into a rhythm.
Dishonorable Mention: G. James (FBN) 5-18 FGs
|The "Chris Dudley" Award
Erik Gerrard (MON) | 3-7 FTs (.429)
The MON big man led his team with a game-high 20 points, but in a game decided by only 2 pts, these misses from the FT line hurt.
Dishonorable Mention: Max Shillalies (BBR) 4-8 FTs
