2K10 SPR Game of the Week (Wk 7)FBNYC, 3.26.10
NYC Fury (4-1) vs. The Agents (2-2) | Saturday (3/27) 3:15pm @ MLK HS

ANALYSIS: Reportedly both NYF and FAS will be fielding full rosters which should mean one hell of a game. Though FAS has better overall height 1 through 4, they are undersized in the low-post with all their forwards being natural 3's rather than bigs. Both FAS (F) Nick Watson and (F) Nic Echevestre, however, are versatile and as capable on D as on offense. For the Fury, it's the same old story. They dictate the pace and get it done on defense. Easy points will only come in transition and that will mean stopping the dynamic duo of (G) Joe Kim and (G) Alex Cho.

X-FACTOR: Whenever NYF gets a good game out of (G) Steven Chen or (F) Rich Chang, they win. Both are very making big contributions. For the Agents, (G) Mike Ha has been their best hustle player and utility man but rookie (G) Leuis Ng will have to run the show now that (G) Roman Perez is back in the Dominican pro ranks.

GR GR The Agents
Match-Up
(G) Steven Chen

B+

B

(G) Leuis Ng

Chen is a defensive maestro who can bully you physically while Ng has speed and youth. The latter also a weakness.
(G) Alex Cho

A

B

(G) Mike Ha

One of the league's most prolific scorers, the FAS tempo should suit Cho fine. Ha is maybe the hardest working man in show business.
(G) Joe Kim

A

A

(F) Nic Echevestre

Kim is a former MVP who can do it all. The only reason Echevestre doesn't have a + is FAS hasn't figured out how to use him yet.
(F) Rich Chang

B+

A+

(F) Nick Watson

Chang continues his premier sidekick status while Watson may be the league's premier player. He's the best athlete in the BLUE.
(C) Bryant Picone

A+

(F) Jon Yevin

Picone has meant shut down paints for all other teams, but this one?  Yevin, the former African pro is versatile and rugged.

BENCH

Fury bench is thin this season but rookie (F) Seho Lee has been solid. FAS (F) Rob Toste is MIA for now but (F) Malik Taylor is tough for the Agents and regaining his bearings.

2K10 SPR Power Rankings (Week 6)FBNYC, 3.25.10
Fury moves up as league's top team

The defending champs are still the steadiest team in the league

The Hypebeasts coveted big man (F) George Chan is back but not before the Beasts fall slightly to no. 2 in the Power Rankings. They may not be there long with (C) Howard Chu finally waking up this season and (F) Mamadou Hanne getting more comfortable every game. But, the Fury are the team to beat right now. On paper, maybe not the most talented team but they have that intangible that separates champs from the rest. Chemistry. Peep the rankings! -- Kenny "The Jet" Li

FBNYC 2K10 SPR Power Rankings (Week 6)
Diff. Rank Team Record Comments
+2

1.

NYF

(4-1)

The Fury have been the steadiest team all season, not looking really bad in any games but not looking exceptionally good either. Which should say a lot considering their 4-1 record. The best is yet to come.
-1

2.

HYP

(4-2)

It's hard to tell what this team will bring each week which makes them hard to match up with but the consistent presence of (F) George Chan is the difference. And, finally (C) Howie Chu is coming alive.
-1

3.

QIK

(4-2)

The Quicks' slump appeared to be over even before the addition of (G) Jake Choi but the "Snake" might be the missing link that makes this a championship caliber team. Speed kills.
+2

4.

FAS

(2-2)

A team with this much talent shouldn't be ranked this low but attendance has been an issue. They have 4 gms to prove their better than .500. And, they haven't even figured out how to utilize (F) Nic Echevestre yet.
-1

5.

AOD

(2-3)

Dope made a leap for prominence with back-to-back wins but then fell off for two straight losses. (G) Nick Mui is still a big addition but having (F) Yoshi Kagitomi on the roster does them no good if he's not there.
-1

6.

CRB

(0-6)

They may not win a game this season but no one can say the effort wasn't there. Each player on their roster has gotten plenty of experience against solid talent. But, they still have 2 gms to try and get a W.

Observations... good luck to Roman "El Regalo" Perez back in the DR, hit us with highlights... shout out to Yuta "Tokyo Drift" Kurihara in Peru! Tu hables Espanol? ...Aaron Fisher aka "Steak and Potatoes"... Ezra Hoover aka "Kangaroo Jack"... Amin Gillespie aka "The Pacifier"... Odds: that Nick Watson finishes the season leading the league in PPG and RPG? ...better or worse than the Crossbearers getting a W?

2K10 SPR Weekly Player Awards (Week 6)FBNYC, 3.24.10
Nick Watson (FAS)
F | 6-3 | 215 lbs
Week 6 Stats
PPG: 18.0
RPG: 13.0
BPG: 2.0

We have to get a thumbnail of this kid, we have a feeling he'll be back. Watson wasn't always stunning this week but a short-handed FAS needed all of his 18 pts, 13 rebs to beat CRB, iced off with another thundering dunk in the final seconds.

Runner-Up: Howard Chu (HYP) 18 pts, 12 rebs, 1 stl
Jake Choi (QIK)
G | 5-11 | 160 lbs
Week 6 Stats
PPG: 22.0
RPG: 5.0
SPG: 3.0

Figures "Jake the Snake" would be an instant impact upon his return to NYC. He did just the same thing last summer for the FBNYC All-Stars touring team. He instantly makes the Quicks a more dynamic team, giving QIK the speed they've lacked.

Runner-Up: Joe Kim (NYF) 17 pts, 3 rebs, 3 asts
The Sam Lo Award for Hustlers

B. Picone (NYF) 7 rebs, 7 asts, 4 blks

This makes the second week Picone has picked up 4 blks but even better, he dished out a career-high 7 asts with his, "over the top," stylings.

Runner-Up: Mike Ha (FAS) 8 rebs, 3 stls, 1 blk
Defensive Player of the Week

A. Stewart (QIK) 11 rebs, 4 stl, 2 blk

It's looking like it will come down to Stewart or NYF (C) Bryant Picone for the Defensive MVP, they have been alternating here all season.

Runner-Up: Bryant Picone (NYF) 7 rebs, 2 stl, 4 blk
The High-5 Club

Mike Ha (FAS) 10-8-2-2-1
Bryant Picone (NYF) 6-7-7-2-4
Alex Stewart (QIK) 8-11-2-4-2
Nick Watson (FAS) 18-13-3-1-2

Discorama Rookie of the Week

R. Perez (FAS) 16 pts, 3 asts, 1 stl

Perez in his 2nd week on loan from the Dominican professional ranks, put in another solid game for the short-handed Agents.

RU: Mamadou Hanne (HYP) 10 pts, 7 asts, 4 stls
The "John Starks" Award

Mike Chan (CRB) | 0-8 FGs (.000)

Chan arrived late and never got into the groove, a shame for the versatile forward who has impressed for most of the season.

Dishonorable Mention: Nick Mui (AOD) 2-10 FGs

The "Chris Dudley" Award

Dave Liu (HYP) | 1-4 FTs (.250)

It's not that 1-4 is that bad, it's that had he made both FTs at the end of reg, HYP wins. Rough for the young (F) but he's always bounced back.

Dishonorable Mention: Nick Watson (FAS) 3-7 FTs
