After an embarrassing loss in Week 1 without Johnson in the line-up, his return shows you just how much he means to the success of BBR. This was a win gained on Johnson's will power.

Runner-Up: Askia Davis (MBX) 23 pts, 6 reb, 2 blk
The Sam Lo Award for Hustlers

Will Johnson (BBR) 16 reb, 1 blk

Johnson gets a double-up this week as he went to work against NYK's 6-7 (F) Jin Hong. They needed a big one out of the veteran, and they got it.

Runner-Up: Askia Davis (MBX) 16 reb, 4 blk
Wat Misaka Defensive Player of the Week

T. Mahoney (WSH) 6 reb, 9 stl

This comes in a losing effort, but it was Mahoney's defense that kept the Bullets in this game at all. His 9 stl is a career-high mark.

They didn't get much offense out of Kettering, but the big man was solid again on the boards and defending the painted area.

Runner-Up: John Bedford (BBR) 8 pts, 3 reb, 3 ast
The "John Starks" Award

P. Tsevdos (WSH) | 1-11 FGs (.091)

The Bullets were under-manned and under-sized, so that put Tsevdos in a position to take some shots he would not usually take. Tough night.

Dishonorable Mention: M. Bratton (MBX) 4-15 FGs
The "Chris Dudley" Award

B. Reasons (BBR) | 11-23 FTs (.478)

Basketball Reasons is usually a very good free throw shooting team, but they almost gave this game away with all these misses.

Fall 2014 Week 2 Power RankingsFBNYC, 10.1.14

Fall 2014 Premier Division Power Rankings - Week 2
Rank Team Record
Team Notes
1. (N/A)

BOO

(2-0)

After a season off, Boomtown looks refreshed and focused on that elusive chip. They've won their first 2 gms by an average margin of 22 pts, and (F) Nate Jones hasn't even gotten it going yet. Luckily, (G) Keith Markovich has. With a healthy (F) Jake Moreno, this team is a contender again.
2. (N/A)

MON

(2-0)

The forest that makes up the Monstars front-line has returned led by (C) Chris Lemoine. This is the biggest team in the league. The back court is thin, but (G) Nick Cafiero is playing well and (G) Pierre Carras is always solid. The return of (F) Brett Marfurt will help spread the floor depiste a quiet start.
3. (N/A)

FBN

(0-1)

The defending champs started the season with a loss, but The Breakers will always challenge for the title as long as they make the playoffs. This season adding 6-7 (F) Matija Petrovic will go a long way toward achieving that goal.
4. (N/A)

MBX

(1-1)

MediaBrix has started the season a little shaky. They haven't been nearly as dominant (or convincing) as last season. But, the personnel is all there. This is the most athletic team in the league, they just need to turn it on.
5.(N/A)

NYK

(1-1)

The NYK Spartans are basically a team of guards surrounding their 6-7 (C) Jin Hong. But, they are a veteran team that has played together a long time, so they have they can move up to contender status if they get hot. Their biggest weakness may be that their guards aren't getting any younger.
6. (N/A)

BBR

(3-3)

This is the lowest Basketball Reasons has ever fallen in the PR. Not that they have never lost before, just not like this. Yes, (F) Will Johnson was not there, but (G) Zack Simmons is out this season. (C) Kash Hameed & (G) John Bedford may end up being great pieces, but it will tkae some time.
7.(N/A)

WAS

(1-1)

The Bullets are undersized. With only 6-5 (C) Ace Pidoriano in the paint, who is admittedly a beast, this is still a team of guards that does not have the shooting chops as past SEA teams. But, maybe they don't have to be.
8.(N/A)

SIN

(0-2)

As a new franchise, it can take some time to get acclimated to the FBNYC style of play, but Singularity has some tools to work with. (F) Paul Alshooler has been breaking out so far this season, and hopefully they will get more players gaining traction very soon.
Observations... Markovich came to play this season... so did Cafiero... will Breakers field five today? ...don't sleep on the Spartans... MediaBrix needs an espresso shot of Go Go Gadget... Erik Gerrard has big elbows... Mike Salerno is now aka "Magic Mike"... Isiaih Reed is aka "Lando"... Chris Lemoine is still "The Big Breakfast"

Boomtown may be on to something now with back-to-back
comfortable wins. Markovich has been a big reason for their success. He has shot well, and the team has fed off his offense.

Runner-Up: Will Haile (FBN) 38 pts, 9 reb, 5 ast
The Sam Lo Award for Hustlers

Paul Alshooler (SIN) 19 reb, 2 blk

Alshooler recorded a career-high 19 reb, topping his previous mark by more than double. His 18 pts also marked a new personal best.

Runner-Up: Askia Davis (MBX) 16 reb, 4 blk
Wat Misaka Defensive Player of the Week

Y. Hulse (FBN) 9 reb, 2 stl, 6 blk

They didn't get the win, but with only 4 players on the floor, Hulse kept it competitive with his D. A career high 6 blk and plenty more deflections.

J. Bedford (BBR) 10 pts, 6 reb, 3 stl

BBR got pummeled here, but Bedford looks like a big piece of the puzzle. They will need him to replace the now departed Zack Simmons' offense.

Runner-Up: Alex Vetras (SIN) 8 pts, 2 reb, 6 ast

The "John Starks" Award

A. Baird (MON) | 1-12 FGs (.083)

So far, in his first 2 gms, the rookie has not been able to get the shot to fall. He did however make the game clinching FT in their Week 2 win.

Dishonorable Mention: K. Hameed (BBR) 2-14 FGs
The "Chris Dudley" Award

K. Hameed (BBR) | 2-8 FTs (.250)

Hameed appears to biggest player in the league this season, but he had a tough opening night. We suspect he will do much better than this.
