Picone simply shut the paint down for his opponents. His reach and timing racked up a league-high 2.1 bpg and he changed even more shots than that. But, the best part is he usually got the boards as well, to a tune of a league best 11.9 rpg.

Tyson was a wizard on D, leading the league with a whopping 4.6 spg. And as the season progressed, so did his offense. Before long he was the SWA franchise. One of the closest runners up to MVP we've ever had, that's how good he was.

Do not be alarmed... we have decided that rather than start a new league when we have 3 usable leagues, to go ahead and bump all the current leagues up a level. This will not change the level of play you are currently at and no teams will be moved. If you have any questions regarding this change, please feel free to e-mail Commish, Ren Hsieh (ren@fastbreaknyc.com). Thanks.

FBNYC 2K9 FALL Championship Review
FBNYC, 12.15.09
Five-man Fury pull off improbable Championship run
With the rest of their roster out for the playoffs, the Fury needed only five to win their second title
MLK HS, NYC -- A bewildered NYF (G) Alex Cho, almost unable to believe it himself, summed it up, "you only need five." Entering the final two rounds of the playoffs, no one outside of the Fury camp could truthfully say they expected a short-handed NYF to beat the NYC Quicks, much less win the 2K9 FALL chip. But, in two knock-down, drag out displays of straight will and determination, the NYC Fury proved Cho's declaration accurate. If you play with this kind of heart, you only need five.

INSIDE THE STATS
NYF (G) Rommel Dolar's 24 pts marks a new career-high. Dolar is averaging 20 ppg in the playoffs, 7.6 ppg more than his reg. season average. Dolar's 21 pts in the 2nd half is an FBNYC record for most 2nd half pts in a championship game.
NYF (F) Rich Chang's 15 pts and 11 rebs marks his 7th career playoff double-double. After missing 10 straight 3FGs, (F) Daniel Kweon made his last to put NYF up 2 pts in the game's final minute.
SLA (F) Harris Chung's 11-11-2-2-2 marks the 7th time in his career that he reached the High-5 club in post-season play.
SLA (G) Joe Kim has struggled in his FBNYC post-season career, averaging just 8.7 ppg in 3 Finals appearances, 9 ppg less than his regular season career average.
Coming in, it couldn't have escaped the Fury that their 2K9 SPR MVP (G) Joe Kim left to join the Slayers for a better chance at the Chip. That could have been motivation enough but even captain (F) Rich Chang admitted winning was unlikely. Sure enough, the defending champion Slayers, who know something about squashing underdog playoff runs, having dismantled the Quicks last season, were fully aware of NYF's short roster and came out aggressive. (G) Drew Chen attacked the rim early on while (F) Harris Chung got it going with a couple of early jumpers. Solid defense by SLA and unforced Fury TOs nearly put NYF away in the 1st. Only inspired play from Chang kept the NYF within reach. Chang played the 1st with noticeably more energy than and just as NYF seemed to quit, Chang pushed them on.
In the 2nd qtr, the Fury got a second wind. Cho and rookie (G) Rommel Dolar made key 3FGs while Chang continued to thrive on the offensive boards. SLA, meanwhile, seemed content to run out the clock rather than push the tempo as the Fury were reeling. NYF regained its composure and closed within 25-23, carried by Chang's 11 pts, 7 rebs while, Dolar, their best scorer in the playoffs had only 3 pts on 1-8 FGs and 5 1st half TOs. If not for Chung's 8 pts, 6 rebs and strong court presence from Chen and (G) Kirk Kim, SLA might have gone into half-time with a deficit as Joe Kim, unable yet to break his struggles in the Finals, had only 2 pts on 1-6 FGs.
At the half, SLA regrouped and jumped out to another lead, going ahead by as much as 8 on key 3FGs from (G) Brent Morita. But, SLA again slowed the pace, letting NYF regroup as Dolar came alive in the 3rd and the Fury turned up the D. (C) Bryant Picone's presence in the paint was key. When not racking up one of his game-high 5 blks, he changed shots. SLA rarely got a clean look in the paint and NYF secured the boards.
With :03 left in the 3rd, SLA overthrew a full-court pass. Chen chased it down just before it went out but not without colliding with the door stop. His behind-the-back save went straight to Chung who just missed an open three. The rebound came to SLA (C) Jiang Yu who seemed to have an easy putback but Chang flew in from the corner, where he had run out on the shooter and blocked Yu's attempt as the 3rd qtr whistle sounded. Had either gone down, SLA might have finally broken the Fury's back, instead they had signs of life.
As the 4th qtr began, Joe Kim became more aggressive, getting into the paint and to the line. Morita made another 3FG and the Slayers were again in charge, up by 6. The Fury again looked ready to quit, walking with their heads down but Chang fired at his teammates to fight on and they responded. Dolar hit a three, then Cho, then Chang followed up another. And, after an SLA miss, Dolar, playing through calf cramps, willed himself to take over, making yet another 3FG to give NYF a 1-pt lead, their first of the game with only 3:00 min left. SLA's Kirk Kim, however, would quickly answer with 2 pts to regain the lead.
The game went back and forth as the clock wound down with NYF's Dolar leading the way. And, in the final minute, the SLA shots stopped falling. Down 1-pt, with less than 1:00 to play, the Fury found (F) Daniel Kweon in the corner for three. Despite missing his first 5 3FGAs and all five in their previous game, he didn't hesitate. Fury up 2. Joe Kim's jumper at the other end fell short and SLA had to put Dolar on the line. He made both. Down 4 pts with only seconds remaining, Kim's 3FG fell short. Dolar back on the line, made another FT, icing on his record 21 second half pts. Just like that, the Fury were the 2K9 FALL champs, and as exhausted as they were, they looked as surprised as everyone else. -- Kenny "The Jet" Li
Hello. I just moved to the Miami area. I am looking for a solid company to help me with a refinance. I purchased the house from a short sale and had to do business over the phone because I was living in Az. I dont think that I got a good deal. My interest rate in now 6.99 percent. I think that I can refinance and get a much better deal. Please point me in the right direction.

Let's not get carried away... Kim is an asset to any team but for one reason or another hasn't done well in this league's Finals format. Looked like a lot of it was fatigue but with the Fury playing with just five, I guess that's not much of an excuse.
So yea, he is kind of like the A-Rod of Fastbreak right now. But even A-Rod has a Chip now.

seems like it. I think slayers would have won without him actually, but that is just me. I'm not knocking him, but his style and slayer style is kind of different, they aren't a team that runs and guns, so tough fit for joe. Congrats to FURY!
