MLK HS, NYC -- Club Trillion opened the game in an uncharacteristic man-to-man defense leaving an exposed (C) Kevin Coll to defend (F) Kevin Kentish in space. LIL took quick advantage isolating Kentish and building as much as a 9-pt lead midway through the 2nd quarter. CTN, veteran team that they are, quickly called a time out to adjust.

INSIDE THE STATS CTN (C) Kevin Coll's 13 pts and 15 rebs is his second double-double of the season and also his 2nd consecutive entry to the High-5 club.
CTN (G) Drew Chen has reached double digit scoring in each of his 4 gms this season, the longest stretch of his career.
LIL (F) Brian Sun's 12 pts is a season-high. (G) Ren Hsieh failed to reach double-digits for the first time in 11 games.
With LIL leading 17-8, it was easy to overlook that (G) Ren Hsieh had not yet made a FG and would not until the 4th qtr and (G) BJ Grant, their second best on-the-ball defender, was hobbled with an injury. All this would come into play after CTN made the adjustment to zone.
CTN overextended their zone to cover Hsieh who never did find the touch, while keeping Coll in position to defend the paint. Trillion's physical play quickly wore down the smaller, finesse LIL as possession after possession tended to end with Lilliputians on the ground and CTN out on the break. One by one, LIL players seem to fall to injury, Grant sat out most of the 2nd half due to a pulled groin and Kentish caught an inadvertent elbow on his shooting arm that effectively limited his offense in the 2nd half. It didn't help that (G) Zak Clark and (F) Jonny Clark didn't arrive until the 2nd qtr and never got in sync.
Meanwhile, LIL had their own problems trying to stop Trillion on defense. The Lillies couldn't stay in front Even when they made defensive stops they struggled to keep Coll off the offensive boards. If every a player could dominate with rebounding alone it was Coll in this game. (F) Myong Choi and (G) Drew Chen chipped in the offense as Coll and (F) Young Yu drew double-teams.
But, even as CTN controlled the tempo throughout the 2nd half, LIL made a run and with just 2:00 min remaining, the Lillies were down 5 with possession. A Kentish 3FG went in and out and after a defensive stop, a Clark 3FG attempt fell short. LIL was forced to foul and CTN converted just enough FTs to stay hold off a LIL team that never quite got into their rhythm. -- Jeff Van Ghandi
