INSIDE THE STATS

LIL (G) Ren Hsieh's 20 pts marks the 22nd time he has reached the 20-pt plateau in his RED league career.

LIL (G) Zak Clark's 7 pts, 6 rebs, 8 asts and 6 stls is the closest anyone has come to a quadruple-double in a long time.

MNS (F) Monty Tardio's 21 pts is a season high and marks the first time he has topped the 20-pt mark since 11/1/2009.
MLK HS, NYC -- This could be seen as a sort of redemption game for LIL (G) BJ Grant who was dropped from the MNS roster after an All-Star season in 2K9 SPR. Or a statement game for former RED league MVP (G) Ren Hsieh and WHITE league MVP runner-up (G) Zak Clark to prove they still had it after extended layoffs. For rook (F) Kevin Kentish, maybe it was a coming out party. It was a little pf all these things as LIL had plenty to prove in the debut of their high octane experiment.

Money Shots was the perfect test. Could they out-run this very adept running team? Coming off a win vs. BTR in which they won handily by pushing the tempo, MNS was often beaten at their own game in this one. Hsieh started off hot, hitting 3 consecutive 3FGs in the 1st qtr to give LIL an 11-0 start. MNS (F) Monty Tardio (game-high 21 pts) and (G) Lester Padilla (12 pts) eventually got it going offensively but they struggled in their half-court offense where Money clearly missed (F) Shanti Garcia.

The Lilliputians dictated the pace all game as Hsieh deferred to (C) Brian Shim and Kentish in the 2nd qtr. By halftime, the lead was at 12 pts even after an MNS run to finish the qtr. MNS rarely got any closer LIL seemed to find a different player step up whenever they needed a bucket, whether it was Clark, Grant or rookie (F) Jonny Clark hitting shots to keep the lead comfortable in double-digits.

Money Shots can run and shoot but missing a facilitator like Garcia was exposed more greatly in this game than in their win in Wk 1. The Lilliputians not only run and shoot but almost every player on the roster is also a playmaker. They lack any real size but their speed and overall skill level may be just enough to overcome that. -
