MLK HS, NYC -- With just :15 secs left, down 56-54, BDB (G) B.J. Grant (8 pts, 8 rebs) dribbled down precious seconds of the game clock. Grant, who was only 1-for-8 from the field, looked to either create off the dribble or find his own shot. Grant took one dribble to his right, stopped on a dime, rose up and fired and as referee Howard Davis used to say, “Bang, Bang!” BDB was up 57-56 and only 6.7 secs remained.

INSIDE THE STATS PS1 (F) Will Lee's 22 pts and 11 rebs mark both his WHITE league career-high and his first double-double.
Lee and (G) Ren Hsieh's 22 and 21 respective pts mark the first time any PS1 player has topped the 20-pt mark.
After going scoreless in his first game, BDB (G) Joe Albano answered with a solid 16-pt effort. (F) Rommel Reece's 17 rebs is the most by any BDB player so far this season.
But, this was the equivalent of scoring a touchdown and giving pre-Super Bowl Peyton Manning the ball with time on the clock to go ahead. PS1 still had plenty of time and two red-hot play-makers in (F) Will Lee aka "the Flying Dumpling" and (G) Ren Hsieh.
After a time-out, PS1 in-bounded the ball to Lee who drove left. As the defense converged, (F) Duke Hogwild set a back-screen for Hsieh who opened up in the corner. With just a sliver of breathing room, Hsieh elevated for the game winner as Grant closed out. In three previous occasions in his career that found Grant out to defend a last-second shot with the outcome of the game on the line, Grant had elevated and blocked all three.
This time, however, not only did Hsieh did get the shot off but Grant fouled him with less than a second remaining. The shot fell off the mark but Hsieh now had three tries to tie, then potentially put PS1 ahead. He made 2-of-3 FTs and BDB missed a desperation 3FG at the buzzer for the win.
PS1 had started this game in typical ragged form, missing their bigs (C) Zack Huang and (F) Bernie Eng. Hsieh was the PS1er to score early on, putting up the team’s first 12 pts. Meanwhile, BDB’s (G) Joe Albano (16 pts) and (F) Rommel Reece (12 pts, 17 rebs) formed a tough outside-inside duo. Reece dominated the paint. But, in the 2nd half, the Dumpling percolated, and Hsieh went to him. re-kindling the scoring prowess of seasons past. Lee scored basket after basket with a mystifying array of pump fakes, spin moves, and bank shots in the 4th. PS1 also received solid rebounding help from (F) Brian Chow and Duke Hogwild with a combined 21 rebs to help seal the win. -- "Scoop" Jack Sun
