INSIDE THE STATS Despite shooting 9% worse from the field than BBC and getting out-rebounded 30-25, PRB won. 24 FT attempts and 12 makes to BBC's 4 did the trick.
BBC (G) Louis Konig has proven to be one of the better rebounding guards in the league, grabbing 10 rebs each in his last two games. His 11 pts, 10 rebs is his first double-double.
MLK HS, NYC -- In this low scoring affair, the expansion Pretty Boys managed to eke out a close victory vs. the Billionaire Boys Club in the final seconds. PRB paced by veteran (C) Brian Shim (13 pts, 7 rebs) and (F) Dooley Watts (9 pts, 10 rebs) in his season debut.
The Boys led by 8 pts at the half but BBC would close their lead after a 3rd qtr injury to newly acquired (C) Victor Chia. "Big Baby" as they call him, went down with a torn hamstring shortly after scoring the last of his 10 pts. But, BBC seemed galvanized by his loss and made a 3rd qtr run to take the lead immediately following Chia's exit.
Rookie BBC (G) Louis Konig (11 pts, 10 rebs) led the way on a variety of strong drives to the hoop along with (F) John Du (12 pts, 5 rebs) who shot poorly but still managed to contribute 12 pts. Meanwhile, BBC’s offense was orchestrated by new acquisition(G) Brent Morita, who struggled in his season debut to finish with 0 pts on 0-4 shooting and only 2 asts with 2 TOs. Late in the game, however, BBC would falter, unable to consistently score against PRB's pressure defense.
PRB captain (G) David Chu was less stellar offensively in his follow-up to last week's 21-pt performance. But despite scoring just 10 pts on 4-16 FGs, and just 1-9 from deep, Chu was responsible for the steal and off-balance jumper that put his team ahead. (F) Peter Park, who was equally impressive last week was equally quiet on offense with just 5 pts on 2-6 shooting.
