Choi-less Wet falls to win-less Bandits in OT

MLK HS, NYC -- I'm gonna be honest with you, the recap for this one took this long because none of us saw this game. But, I did get to review the video with the magic of the internet and I wish I'd seen it. That BDB was even close might have been because (G) James Choi out of the line-up. That's how much he means WET, leading them in PPG (18.0), APG (3.0) and SPG (4.0).

INSIDE THE STATS

BDB (C) Rommel Reece is on a record pace, recording 17 or more rebounds in all 3 gms he has played. His 15 pts is a season-high and marks his 2nd double-double of the season.

WET (F) Chris Choi has scored 19 or more points in 3 gms this season. This is his first to reach 20, a season-high 26 for the rookie and a league-high so far.
Two games with Choi have given them two wins. But, whether he's there or not, you have to win. One player is still just one player and the Bandits didn't even look good from the start, scoring only 5 pts in the 1st. But, Wet never put any real distance between them.

BDB picked up the scoring in the 2nd qtr as (G) BJ Grant began to pick apart the WET zone and (C) Rommel Reece found creases in the paint. Meanwhile, (F) Monty Tardio found the range with back-to-back 3FGs but that would soon fade. WET managed to outpace the Bandits to take a 23-15 lead into halftime. But, it just felt like they left the door open.

WET (F) Chris Choi quietly had one of the best performances of any player this season. And after extending their lead to 11 pts going into the 3rd qtr, they seemed like they were finally in contrl. But, the WET defense let down, which allowed Grant and Reece to bring BDB back and soon the Bandits started to believe they could win this game. (G) Joe Albano hit 2 big 3FGs and with :12 secs remaining, BDB had the ball down 2 with a chance to tie.

The ball was inbounded to Reece, who set up his man and drove right down the lane to tie the game. A desperation heave from Kim at the buzzer was off the mark and right away both teams were in overtime. In OT, Wet won the tip but missed their first attempt. Grant took the rebound out on the break and scored two plus the foul. His FT put the Bandits up for good. Choi would hit a 3FG to give Wet a chance but on back-to-back trips to the FT line, Reece tipped in offensive rebounds to seal their first win of the season. -
