INSIDE THE STATS BBC (G) Brent Morita's 10 stls mark a WHITE league record. His 15 pts on top of it marks his first career double-double.
PS1 (C) Rich Chang has scored 14 or more points in each of his 5 gms this season.
BBC came out with a clear game-plan from the start, focusing attention on (C) Rich Chang and letting his teammates beat them. BAG also seemed to have a similar strategy against BBC big man, (C) Jiang Yu.
Accordingly, the game became a defensive battle as neither team could find any rhythm on offense. With BBC’s leading scorer (F) John Du missing, someone would have to step up. Veteran (G) Brent Morita answered the call, and on both ends of the court, recording a WHITE league record 10 stls along with 15 pts, a season-high.
BBC's defense-first mentality and pressure zone created problems for Bang's guards as evidenced by their 23 TOs. But, even with BBC controlling most of this game, Chang (14 pts, 7 rebs)converted timely buckets, just enough to keep his team in it entering later stages of the game. Chang was double-teamed if not tripled giving his teammates open jumpers. But, only (G) Terry Huang (11 pts, 5-12 FGs) seemed to convert.
For BBC, it was all Morita, his pressure D made it tough for the BAG guards to even get Chang the ball. He attacked the BAG paint, netting 11 FT attempts and late in the game, as BAG tried to force TOs with a full court press, Morita and Co. were able to keep their composure and sink enough FT’s to put the game away. Rookie (F) Louis Konig continued his solid and efficient play with 11 pts, 3 rebs and 2 stls for a formerly cellar-dwelling BBC that has won its 2nd straight. -- Stan Van Ghandi
