INSIDE THE STATS

PRB (G) David Chu's 21 pts is just the 3rd time so far this season any player has topped the 20-pt mark.

PS1 and PRB's combined 41 TOs is the most of any WHITE league gm so far this season.

PS1 (F) Will Lee's 14 pts is the most any PS1 player has scored so far this season. (G) Ren Hsieh's 11 gives them the first game this season they've had two double-digit scorers.
MLK HS, NYC -- Captain (G) David Chu led his expansion franchise Pretty Boys over (F) Will Lee and Pnest1 despite an admirable late run by PS1 to get back into this game.   Chu, in his first WHITE league season displayed great athleticism, a sweet stroke and timely defense in leading his team to the win.

One of the major threads to this story is (G) Ren Hsieh joining PS1, a team that struggled to run a cohesive offense in its opening week loss to the Sex Panthers. They needed a PG and they got one in “The Commish.” Hsieh facilitated early, finding Lee and (C) Bernie Eng inside.  Unfortunately for PS1, Lee AKA the “Flying Dumpling” was often grounded by unusually tight officiating that included traveling violations and other TOs. Eng was effective creating space inside but struggled from the FT line.

Behind strong support from last season's Defensive MVP (F) Brian Shim (8 pts, 4 rebs) and versatile rookie (G) Peter Park (10 pts, 4 stls, 3 asts), the Pretty Boys would jump out to as much as an 18-pt lead. As the game became a little “chippy,” Hsieh, who had not taken a FG until the 4th qtr, turned up the offense and began calling his own number. This ignited his teammates as despite Hsieh never quite catching fire, PS1 surged back with hustle plays around the basket.

The game would close to within 5 pts late in the 4th. After an inbounds play to a wide-open (F) Duke Hogwild at the 3-pt line, Chu came out of nowhere to emphatically block the Hogwild attempt.  That play appeared to be the dagger as PRB was able to survive by hitting enough FTs late to put away the game as PS1 ran out of chances.
