WHIS, Houston -- The Minorities have become the team to beat this season. With 2 MVP candidates, MRP (F) King Alcedo and (G) Richard Basa, it's hard to find a chink in their armor.
MRP applied a defense first attitude this game, and it paid huge dividends. Without UHP (G) Andrew Koller, UHP's offense looked stagnant and out of sync. MRP took advantage and scored at will against the struggling UHP team.
MRP (C) Stephen Tou (13 pts and 12 rebs) dominated the paint against the undersized UHP front line and capitalized on weak rotating defense. He set up teammates Alcedo and Basa for easy shots, and dominated on the boards.
There wasn't much UHP could do. UHP (F) Jeff Tu worked his tail off but it just wasnt enough. UHP leading scorer (G) Kevin Xu was able to score 14 pts but did so on 21 attempts from the field. It didn't help that they only had 5 players, and their 6th showed up in the 3rd qtr, but the Hoopers just couldn't stay with the high powered, defensive-minded, Minorities. -- Stan Van Ghandi
