WHIS, Houston -- Despite all of the contributers predicting a blowout, none of us thought it would've ended like this. Granted, GLT was short-handed and (G) Paul Nguyen suffered a laceration above his eye forcing GLT to find a sub, was not pleasing at the start.
GLT scored 9 pts in the 1st half, but allowed a whopping 45 pts from the Ballers. They were getting good looks and the basket, but the shots just weren't falling. On the other side, SKB couldn't miss. SKB (G) Arnold Kang (24 pts and 6 asts), along with teammate and former MVP (G) Edward Tan (8 asts and 6 stls), couldn't miss from the perimeter. And if it wasn't from deep, it was (F) Andy Lee (game-high 26 pts) and (C) Dong Lee (24 pts and 11 rebs) taking it straight into the heart of the GLT defense.
There was little GLT could do. It was simple; they were outmatched. However, they were able get something going in the 2nd half. Led by GLT (F) Dustin Killborn (13 pts and 10 rebs), they were able to finally put drop some buckets. The 2nd half, despite being down a bundle, GLT was able to score and put up 36 pts. Teammate (F) Bobbie Nguyen (11 pts) contributed knocking down 3 3FGs to help close the gap, but unfortunately, the game was out of reach.
It was a good effort being short-handed, but in the end, SKB was just too strong. As my pick to win the ORC, SKB is looking really, really good. Van Ghandi out. -- Stan Van Ghandi
